Who runs this app

Scotland Golf Passport is owned and run by Stephen Munro. It is a personal golf passport for Scotland's Top 100 courses: it keeps your stamps, rounds, photos and leaderboard position so you can follow your progress.

Data controller: Stephen Munro. Contact email: contact@scotlandgolfpassport.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address and a password (stored as a scrambled hash, never as plain text), plus the leaderboard name you choose. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
  • Your golf data — which courses you have stamped, the rounds you record (date, hole-by-hole scores, notes), your favourite courses and the photos you upload with a round or a course.
  • Trip planner requests — the dates, starting location, course preferences and notes you type in. These are sent to an AI service to write your itinerary.
  • Friends you add — the players you choose to follow from the leaderboard.
  • On your device — a copy of your passport, friends list and sign-in session is kept in your browser's local storage so the app opens instantly.

How we use it

Only to run the features you asked for: issuing stamps, showing your passport and scorecards, building your trip, syncing your data between devices, and working out your place on the leaderboard. We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers in this app.

What other players can see

  • The live leaderboard shows your leaderboard name and your number of stamps to everyone using the app.
  • A passport link you share shows your name, stamps and round highlights to anyone who has that link — treat it like a printed passport handed across a clubhouse.
  • Your rounds, photos, favourites and trip plans are not shown to other players.

Where your data lives

Your account, stamps, rounds, favourites and photos are held in a hosted cloud database and file store (Supabase), with access rules so that only you can read your own records. Photos are stored in a private bucket and shown only to you. No method of storage is completely safe, so please do not upload anything you would not want seen.

Third parties

  • Google — sign-in with Google, and the map on the Map tab, which loads Google Maps.
  • Apple — sign-in with Apple, which can hide your email address from us.
  • AI service — your trip planner details are sent to an AI model to produce the itinerary.
  • Booking.com — "stay nearby" and trip links take you to Booking.com. Those links carry an affiliate ID, so a commission may be paid to the app if you book. Booking.com sets its own cookies once you get there.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and your stamps, rounds, photos and favourites are removed with it. Stamps on the leaderboard count is refreshed as soon as your records go.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, have your leaderboard name corrected, or have your account and data deleted. You can also stop using the app and clear its local storage from your browser settings. If you are in the UK or EU and think your rights have been ignored, you can complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Children

This app is written for adult golfers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if you believe a child has given us data, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new policy.
